The sun seems like in no mood to show us any mercy this summer. With temperatures extremely high heat waves warnings have already been issued in several regions to save the citizens from the adverse effects of heat.

The temperature is crossing the 40 degree mark every day in Pakistan. But, this is not about just feeling the heat anymore this is about the scorching heat of the sun which is posing several health risks to the human body and what you eat matters a lot.

As this summer will continue to make our lives difficult, it’s our time to hit back with some pro-eating tips?

Here is what you should eat this summer to protect yourself from this cruel sun:


Watermelon

Keeping yourself hydrated is a task now and what’s better than a juicy fruit like a watermelon. It contains 91.45 per cent water and it is a great source of hydration and therefore it is the best cooling food to have during summer. Also, this fruit is filled with antioxidants that are good for your skin and immunity and they also protect you from a stroke.

Yogurt

Yoghurt is rich in probiotics therefore it has rich cooling effects. The presence of good bacteria in yogurt makes it superior to have to boost immunity and reduce the probability of UTI infections which are common in summers.

Basil seeds

Basil seeds are a natural cooling agent undoubtedly and help alleviate acidity, constipation, and skin health. To get the best of basil seeds, soaked them for 4–5 hours in water and then consume them by adding it to water or any beverage.

Cucumbers

Cucumbers are a considered good vegetable for the hot summer days as they contain a lot of water to help keep you cool, actually cucumbers are 95% water. Make sure to eat them raw.

 

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are a great source of  Vitamin C and water and most importantly lycopene. Tomatoes guard your skin against the ultraviolet rays of the sun and give it extra protection in the summer.
